ARS ELECTRONICA ARCHIVE – AI LAB

The European ARTificial Intelligence Lab (AI Lab) is a follow-up project to the European Digital Art and Science Network, a creative collaboration between scientific institutions, Ars Electronica and cultural partners throughout Europe that unites science and digital art. The European ARTificial Intelligence Lab follows on from this and addresses visions, expectations and fears that we associate with artificial intelligence. The consortium consists of 13 cultural institutions from Europe with Ars Electronica as coordinator. This online archive provides an overview of all activities carried out during the project's lifetime from 2018 to 2021. It also provides information about the network itself, the residency artists and juries, and the project partners involved. The AI Lab is co-funded by the EU program "Creative Europe (2014-2020)" and by the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport.

Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation is a private non-profit foundation born in 2004. Its institution goals include the dissemination, at all levels in the city of Zaragoza, of the progress made by the Knowledge Society to construct a more participative, equalitarian, inclusive, and innovative society; open to the new development expectations offered by the intersection of art, science and technology. The Foundation headquarters have been located, since 2013, in Etopia Centre for Art and Technology, a municipal space of the city of Zaragoza, intended for learning, sharing and enjoying the capacities of creative technologies, citizen science, digital culture, and as a centre for multi-disciplinary production. The Foundation places special emphasis on scientific dissemination among younger people, on the fight to overcome the digital gaps for citizens with a greater risk of social exclusion, and on favouring the incorporation of women into the scientific-technological field.

Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation (ES): Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation is an independent public-private organization which is in charge of the program for the Etopia Center for Art & Technology. According with this mission they developed some interesting projects with international scope, providing a valuable experience to the Foundation. The most relevant of them are: Paseo Project (in collaboration with Ars Electronica), to promote technology-based creativity in the public space / Innovate! Europe (an European event on startup culture) / Das Detroit Projekt (coordinated by Schauspielhaus Bochum). Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation has also been quite active in participating in events and projects of the European Union, specially in the field of smart cities initiatives, urban innovation and Future Internet PPP.

Zu den Zielen der Institution gehört die Verbreitung der Fortschritte der Wissensgesellschaft der Stadt Saragossa beim Aufbau einer partizipativeren, gleichberechtigten, integrativen und innovativen Gesellschaft, die offen ist für neue Entwicklungen, die sich aus der Verbindung von Kunst, Wissenschaft und Technologie ergeben. Der Hauptsitz der Stiftung befindet sich seit 2013 im Etopia Centre for Art and Technology, einem urbanen Zentrum in Saragossa, der zum Lernen, Teilen und Genießen kreativer Technologien, der Citizen Sciences, der digitalen Kultur und als Zentrum für multidisziplinäre Produktion genutzt wird.
