ARS ELECTRONICA ARCHIVE – AI LAB
The European ARTificial Intelligence Lab (AI Lab) is a follow-up project to the European Digital Art and Science Network, a creative collaboration between scientific institutions, Ars Electronica and cultural partners throughout Europe that unites science and digital art. The European ARTificial Intelligence Lab follows on from this and addresses visions, expectations and fears that we associate with artificial intelligence. The consortium consists of 13 cultural institutions from Europe with Ars Electronica as coordinator. This online archive provides an overview of all activities carried out during the project's lifetime from 2018 to 2021. It also provides information about the network itself, the residency artists and juries, and the project partners involved. The AI Lab is co-funded by the EU program "Creative Europe (2014-2020)" and by the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport.

Kapelica Gallery / Kersnikova (SI): Kapelica Gallery was established in 1995 as an art space with focus on Contemporary Investigative Arts and a production platform for research, investigation and experimenting with the limits of artistic discourses and art poetics. Kapelica art program is constituted by exhibitions, performances and artistic research. The gallery presents works of artists that dare to go beyond safe and pleasant themes and are challenging visitors to contemplate and wonder with them. Together with BioTehna wet lab Kapelica is an active production platform which encourages, facilitates and showcases investigative artistic production, create public debate and stimulates a critical understanding of the time we live in.

Das Kersnikova Institute ist eine gemeinnützige und nichtstaatliche Kulturorganisation, die als institutioneller Rahmen für drei progressive Veranstaltungsorte dient: Die Kapelica Gallery, ein weltberühmter Ort für zeitgenössische investigative Kunst, der Hacker Space Rampa, in dem die Beziehungen zwischen Gesellschaft, Wissenschaft, Technologie und Kunst überdacht werden, und das inspirierende Labor BioTehna, das sich auf die künstlerische Erforschung lebender Systeme konzentriert. Das Programm von Kersnikova wurde als Antwort auf die tiefgreifenden Veränderungen in der Gesellschaft entwickelt und besteht daher aus investigativen künstlerischen und lernenden Aktivitäten, die die Vielfalt der Gegenwart widerspiegeln und mögliche Zukunftsszenarien ankündigen. Als Plattform, die die künstlerische Produktion fördert, ermöglicht und präsentiert, ist das Kersnikova Institute ein Ort für transdisziplinäre Interaktionen, in dem die AutorInnen und ihre Teams die anspruchsvollsten und kühnsten Projekte entwickeln können.
