Art & Science

The basis of the „European Digital Art and Science Network“ is a big manifold network consisting of scientific mentoring institutions (ESA, CERN, ESO and Fraunhofer MEVIS), the Ars Electronica Futurelab and seven European cultural partners (Center for the promotion of science, RS – DIG Gallery, SK – Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation, ES – Kapelica Gallery / Kersnikova, SI – GV Art, UK – Laboral, ES – Science Gallery, IE. The EU funded project lasted from 2014 to 2017. The Online Archive of Ars Electronica provides an overview of the individual activities of the network and also delivers information about the network itself, the residency artists and the involved project partners and the jury.

Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation is an independent public-private organization which is in charge of the program for the Etopia Center for Art & Technology. According with this mission they developed some interesting projects with international scope, providing a valuable experience to the Foundation. The most relevant of them are: Paseo Project (in collaboration with Ars Electronica), to promote technology-based creativity in the public space / Innovate! Europe (an European event on startup culture) / Das Detroit Projekt (coordinated by Schauspielhaus Bochum). Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation has also been quite active in participating in events and projects of the European Union, specially in the field of smart cities initiatives, urban innovation and Future Internet PPP.

BIOESTETICA - Open Call
BIOESTETICA is the second project of Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation within the program of the European Digital Art and Science Network. It is an ambitious project that takes the form of an expanded exhibition, made up of artistic residencies, workshops, conferences, exhibitions, and films, on the impact of biotechnology on contemporary artistic imaginary.
