ARS ELECTRONICA ARCHIVE - PRINT

The Print Archive of Ars Electronica covers publications since 1979 in the fields of Cyber Arts/Prix, Festival and special publications and as well as the audio-visual supplements, museum brochures, updates and special publications. All text and articles are searchable and readable. The festival catalogues are since 2000 in the original layout as PDFs, for the preceding years, only the OCR text information was preserved but they are also readable. CyberArts catalogues are complete PDFs, catalogues before 2005 were physically digitised, as the print data no longer exists.

Catalogue: C ... what it takes to change

http://www.aec.at/c C… what it takes to change. Knowledge, creativity, ideas: the raw materials of the future. This insight has been making the rounds for quite a while now, and opinion leaders in politics and business are only too eager to hop on the bandwagon. Everyone’s for creativity, everybody calls for a better trained staff, and all want to profit from new ideas. But who is prepared to contribute to this? Who understands that these raw materials don’t have to be depleted, they have to be maximized; that they can’t be harvested, they can only be invested? Creativity and innovation don’t just appear out of the blue, and they resist being conjured up, no matter how clever the design thinking and strategic innovation management methods implemented to bring them forth. Only when we grasp the workings of the ecosystem of creativity and innovation, when we respect it and provide it with sufficient nourishment, only then can we as a society hope to profit from it. 2014, the Ars Electronica Festival’s mission is to discover what it takes to change and to call for answers from all directions, from various disciplines, and from different places all over the world. ...
