ARS ELECTRONICA ARCHIVE - PRINT

The Print Archive of Ars Electronica covers publications since 1979 in the fields of Cyber Arts/Prix, Festival and special publications and as well as the audio-visual supplements, museum brochures, updates and special publications. All text and articles are searchable and readable. The festival catalogues are since 2000 in the original layout as PDFs, for the preceding years, only the OCR text information was preserved but they are also readable. CyberArts catalogues are complete PDFs, catalogues before 2005 were physically digitised, as the print data no longer exists.

Catalogue: RADICAL ATOMS and the alchemists of our time

What comes after self-driving cars and the Internet of Things? Who are the alchemists of our time and what can they contribute to changing our world? What kinds of constellations and collaborative arrangements are they working in? And what characterizes the locations where their ideas and projects are taking shape? Artists, designers, scientists, engineers, activists and, communicators from all corners of the earth gather in Linz to be part of the extraordinary laboratory that is RADICAL ATOMS and the alchemists of our time. They are teaming up to employ the neurosciences and biotechnology, digital hardware and software, and to bring together old handicraft traditions with 3D printers and laser cutters. Their work between art ad science is not only setting a course for new frontiers, it is also opening up completely new ways of looking at the role of art and science in our society and the interplay of technology and nature. This catalog documents the many inspiring projects that are part of Ars Electronica 2016 and offers an insight into its exciting discussions and unorthodox approaches.
