Yu•Tian Cong He
YI QIN
“Yu•Tian Cong He” is composed for voice, pipa (a traditional Chinese instrument) and interactive electronics. The idea of the work comes from a ceremony of Lamas chanting. The live performance of singer and the pipa soloist is recorded, transformed, replayed overlapping, with frequency- shift delay, reverb and spatialization through an eight-channel system, which creates a rich space full of various sounds where audiences have placed themselves. It is worth noting that no pre-recorded sound effect is used in this work. I also expect to provide a structure to allow the dialogue between the performers and their multiple mirror variants produced by the live electronics and finally towards a harmonic.
Qin Yi (CN) obtained her BA in composition and pipa at the Shanghai Conservatory in 2004. In 2006, she obtained her MA under Professor Chen Qiangbin and the famous composer Qu Xiaosong. Now she is assistant professor in Department of Music Engineering at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. As a player and composer Qin Yi has taken part in many international and national musical events and her works have been performed in many European countries, such as Germany, Holland, Austria and Luxembourg, as well as in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
