Boris

Daniel Lundquist
A boy, Boris, receives the greatest gift of his life, a drum. He loves his drum so much that he never leaves it, playing it constantly for 30 years. While the villagers initially love Boris and his drum, after a while they become annoyed and try to stop him drumming. Nothing works, until they finally chop his arms off. This makes Boris very sad and makes him want to end his life then and there. However, he finds a way to drum again.
This animation is drawn on paper colored with pastels and composited in After Effects. It is done in the organic style I use to tell my stories, letting them flow straight from my mind to yours. I hope you enjoy it.
Director, animator, writer: Daniel Lundquist; sound designer: Mike P. Nelson;
Daniel Lundquist (AT). A year ago I graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where I studied animation. I come from a family of eleven so it has always been in my blood to stand out and not blend in with the rest of the world, to be completely original. I don’t know if I will ever achieve this goal or even come close, but as long as I live and breathe I will try. In animation I find the outlet to try and be different, to tell stories in a new and different way. My work is very organic. I try to make it flow straight from my mind through my hand to the paper so that when you watch my animations you feel what I am feeling and understand what I want to say.
