Urs
Moritz Mayerhofer
“Urs” is the graduation film of Moritz Mayerhofer at the Institute of Animation at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg. For almost three years he drew thousands of mountains, characters and villages. He began the pre-production during an exchange program at les Gobelins, Paris. When he came back to the Filmakademie he joined the class of acclaimed animation director Andreas Hykade (“The Runt”, “Ring of Fire”) to produce his film. He worked day and night to create a deep atmospheric film where he would find the fragile relationship of a man to his mother in the middle of a gigantic set of mountains. His goal was to combine the beauty of 2D matte paintings with 3D character animation and 2D classical effects animation into a painterly unity.
