The Prix Ars Electronica Archive is a collection enabling search and viewing of all the submissions since 1987. The award-winning projects are documented with catalogue texts and audio-visual media. All other submissions can be searched by title/artist and displayed with year, category in list form. Please cite the credits (artwork name, artist and photographer) and only use the materials if your article is related to Ars Electronica.

Create and control tiny sound-creatures in the shape of letters that react to gravity or each other and generate rhythms and soundscapes. Dive into a micro world of sounds, movement and touch. But beware! Using this app might change your daily reading and talking experience.
“abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz” is a sound toy, a performance tool and an art work in its own right. You can play with the letter-creatures and watch and listen to how they interact with each other or use them to produce soundscapes as you would with an electronic musical instrument. “abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz” blends art, biology, fun and physics to create a unique, dynamic and interactive sound ecology.
This app is the result of Jörg Piringer’s ongoing research into vocal sounds and their relation to dynamic typography in the form of performance, video and software art.

Jörg Piringer (AT), born 1974. Currently living in Vienna. Member of the Institute for Transacoustic Research, member of the The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra; master’s degree in computer science. He works as a freelance artist and researcher in the fields of electronic music, radio art, sound and visual electronic poetry, interactive collaborative systems, online communities, live performance, sound installation, computer games and video art.
