Zimoun
Zimoun’s sound sculptures and installations are graceful, mechanized works of playful poetry, their structural simplicity opening like an industrial bloom to reveal a complex and intricate series of relationships, an ongoing interplay between the “artificial” and the “organic”.
He is interested in artistic research into simple and elegant systems to generate and study complex behaviors in sound and motion. Zimoun creates sound pieces from basic components, often using multiples of the same prepared mechanical elements to examine the creation and degeneration of patterns.
Zimoun (CH), born in 1977, is an autodidact who lives in Bern. His work has been featured in numerous solo and group shows as well as performances throughout Europe, Asia and North America and has been awarded different art prizes and residencies. Zimoun is a founding member of Leerraum [ ]—which has become a label and platform for creative exchange among those exploring forms and structures based on reductive principles and careful yet radical use of materials.
