Volkslieder für gemischte Stimmen & Sampler

Zorah Mari Bauer
The videotape “Black Forest—Blue Danube” (18 min) presents a collection of humoresque, as well as biting notes on the subject of “heimat and folklore” arranged in 24 chapters, performed and presented by Zorah Mari Bauer and Viola Kiefner.
The Viennese and the Swabian, trivial Germanism—metaphors and interminable yodeling play—in the studioatmosphere, with blue box and soundsampling—between art, kitsch and cliché, biedermeier and music clip —with contemporary themes: nationalism versus integration, pattern versus perspective, and the ABC of traditional folksongs and history versus the oblivion.
