The Prix Ars Electronica Archive is a collection enabling search and viewing of all the submissions since 1987. The award-winning projects are documented with catalogue texts and audio-visual media. All other submissions can be searched by title/artist and displayed with year, category in list form. Please cite the credits (artwork name, artist and photographer) and only use the materials if your article is related to Ars Electronica.
Resident
The virtual being: created by virtual reality technology, enclosed in a white container reminiscent of an incubator or sarcophagus. It responds to human speech with movement, sounds, or by changing its shape. It may be observed through a narrow viewing device with a microphone mounted below it. The installation "RESIDENT" relates to myths and legends about the creation of artificial life. Its design was inspired by methods of alchemy. The body form, the immaterial field of light, and the behaviour of the creature are precisely defined by numbers (key numbers are: one, two, four and seven).
Silver (CZ) is a virtual artist, living and working mostly in the Czech Republic. Interested in interactive art and virtual reality. Has participated in exhibitions in Brno, Prague and Plasy since 1994.
