Metabolic Speed Perception
Zbigniew Karkowski,
Masami Akita,
MAZK
TCP dump, the raw data of internet traffic turned into audiofiles (soundhack) is the only sound material used in Metabolic speed perception. Several layers of this sound are then processed and filtered (vst plug-ins, super collider, peak) and edited (deck). No formal-theoretical or aesthetic considerations were employed in the creative process.
MAZK is a duo which consists of Masami Akita, Japanese noise artist (also known as MERZBOW) and Zbigniew Karkowski. Polish-born composer of contemporary music based in Tokyo. They work with powerbooks and their music can be described as "extreme digital electronics." MAZK performs live in Japan and has released a CD entitled "SPL" on OR label in the UK.
