Humpa.Zerkörpert

Rudolf Eb.er
Rudolf Eb.er, a Swiss musician living in Osaka, started off working in the industrial tape scene. Humpa. Zerkörpert is the latest outcome of his highly unique and elaborate style of miniature cut-up works, consisting of sliced up sounds of physical and bodily actions. Particularly convincing is Eb.er’s dramatic use of action and silence within the context of what are at times absurd-sounding and cartoonesque arrangements that are nevertheless specific and clear in their presentation. Collage works of Eb.er’s such as Humpa. Zerkörpert, as well as his self-described “live actions,” for all of their conceptuality, consistently embody a refreshing sense of having been produced in real-time.

Rudolf Eb.er (CH) is well-known for his extreme "action" performances, which are notable due to how provocative they are both to his audiences and at times to his installations’ curators. Nearly all of Eb.er’s recorded and performed output provides relatively profound examples – as is heard on his Physical Tests and Trainings recording – of how the imagination is always inspired by all audible information sources. Eb.er’s work, both in the analogue and digital realms, is similarly consistent. Humpa. Zerkörpert is as good a testament as any as to where Rudolf Eb.er’s future will lead him.
