Boskoi

_Boskoi_ is an Android mobile application that helps you navigate the edible landscape. It functions as a tool for foraging and as platform for sharing ethnobotanic and ethnoculinary knowledge. The app opens with a map that shows where local wild food sources can be found. Users can add new finds, select and search distinct categories of flora and fauna and get proximal notifications for new entries. The app is free and available worldwide through the Android Market.

Based on the Ushahidi web platform, _Boskoi_ is released under the same open-source license. Incoming data is screened for endangered and protected species. Working closely with foragers, (urban) ecologists, biologists, botanists, cooks, foresters, bio-nerds, tech-nerds and enthusiastic citizens, it brings the ancient skills and knowledge of foragers to a contemporary platform. *
