Future Building

Joshua To
_Future Building_ makes giving online as simple and transparent as volunteering in person. Projects range from schools and clinics to wells and houses. The limits are yours to define and then exceed. And anything that can be built in the real world can be constructed using _Future Building_.

Imagine a school, and what it takes to make it real. A retired war veteran in Atlanta buys the beams, a 15-year-old high-school student in Prague buys the nails. A couple in Johannesburg buy the bolts. More people pitch in for the floors, the walls, the windows, the plumbing, the wiring. What if this could all take place online and each person could visualize and share, in real time, the status of their contribution and everyone else's? A couple hundred people from a couple hundred different places see that the school still needs a roof, and they donate enough to build one. Then someone sees that the desks are still missing. She makes a donation for ten. Someone else makes a donation for twenty. Students get desks. Desks get computers. Computers get software. Click by click, a school is built online and off. But it doesn’t stop with a school or a hospital or a village, because what we’re building is a future.
