18 Days in Egypt

_18 Days In Egypt_ is a collaborative documentary project to collect stories of the revolution and current events related to Egypt using social media fragments from tweets, to Facebook photos and posts, to Youtube videos, and photos. _18 Days In Egypt_ aims to capture the events of the revolution in an interactive documentary website that everyone can access now and in the future. It empowers Egyptians to preserve the incredible social media they have created—their on-the-ground, eye-witness accounts—and to add their voice to a story that is incredibly important to the world and its quotient of human freedom in these early years of the 21st century.

In the 18 days of the uprising, Egyptians by the thousands did what previous revolutionaries could not do: they personally documented their revolution, as it unfolded, on thousands of personal devices. They not only witnessed history—they recorded it. _18 Days in Egypt_ is an interactive documentary project that tells the story of the revolution, minute by minute, using these personal accounts. We want Egyptians to tell this story themselves, with their footage, their photos, their e-mails, their texts, their tweets and status updates—all created during the 18 days of the revolution.

Our team, based in Cairo and Silicon Valley, has already begun to create a unique social media space to gather and preserve thousands of media fragments from the revolution. Once sourced, the footage and associated stories will live in a searchable central archive on our interactive website[ 18DaysinEgypt.com](http://www.18DaysinEgypt.com " 18DaysinEgypt.com").
