Duali
Suguru Goto
The idea of _Duali_ is based upon the idea of performance in the context of new media, dance, music and images. However, it does not really belong to any one style. The special system which includes motion capture system and wirelsss system is developed by the artist. Utilizing this, the work explores the extension of the potentialities in the relationship between man and machine. This performance particularly exploits the interaction between the the body of the performers, the video images of their bodies, and the image and architectural/lightning-like image on stage, which can transform in real time thanks to a body suit.
The work is based upon the concepts of dualism. None of them are intended to be superior or inferior; however, both interact with one another and give rise to different contexts. For example, with the two dancers (who seem to be opposite characters) it expresses the interaction between the video representation and the real bodies presented on stage.

Suguru Goto (JP) is a composer/performer, an inventor and a media artist. He is deeply involved in technical experimentation in the artistic field and in the extension of existing potentialities in the man-machine relationship. In his work, new technologies are mixed in interactive installations and experimental performances; he has invented virtual music instruments that create an interface for communication between human movements and the computer; sound and video images are controlled by virtual music instruments in real time through computers.
