oiga.me
_oiga.me_ is a resource to generate online petitions and support campaigns, but also a platform for citizenship lobbying. Through a massive mailing and fax-contact function (and soon IP telephone too) it serves as a catalyst for collective demands and petitions multiplying and transforming the energy of the social networks.
Through _oiga.me_ civil society individuals or organizations can communicate their petitions and demands straight to those responsible, such as governments, companies, local authorities or any other kind of representative. It is a tool for social democratization and empowerment that serves as a mechanism to enhance voices and express demands. _oiga.me_ promotes social leadership through a simple interface that allows anyone to meet others and cooperate to obtain a common target.
_oiga.me_ started in 2009. During the Spanish parliamentary vote on the law regulating the Internet, _oiga.me_ worked on Xmailer. After this successful experience, we developed the first version, which was released on October 2012. This included only the mail function and online petition form. The experience has proved great success: it has had attracted 147,000 visits, 27,000 mails and 9,500 signed petitions. The second version (January 2013) has added a fax function that allows users to carry out fax campaigns. It has also added a micro-credit donation system, better connection to social networks and more participative tools. All the software used by _oiga.me_ is free and the application code is licensed under GNU Affero General Public License and all it contents are copyleft under CC-By-SA license.
_oiga.me_ is a non-profit organization based on social economy principles that are monitored by its Social Council, which guarantees independence, privacy and data protection. The Social Council functions are: ensuring of the good use of the platform, guaranteeing _oiga.me’s_ independence, counseling on the decision-making process, proposing special campaigns, looking for improvements and obtaining resources for development and management of the platform. The Social Council composition is egalitarian and representative of civil-society organizations. It is also permanently under construction and open to new organizations.
