A Double Life
Studio Job, Joris & Marieke
*A Double Life* is a deliciously dark comedy about a husband and wife whose different ideas of gender conformity lead to an unexpected confrontation.
The inspiration for the film came from the various television programmes on gender in the Netherlands. Programmes named *Gender Bender* and *Love me Gender* and *Geslacht!*, all dealing with the boundaries or non-boundaries of gender. At the same time the papers and magazines were filled with stories about gender confusion at the workplace; should a woman wear suits to be able to become one of the boys, and is lumber- jacking a good hobby to show you are still a man? With the changing ratio of men and women in the workplace, people were getting confused.
With *A Double Life* we wanted to show this confusion without giving our opinion. Whatever the viewer thinks is the message of the film, conveys something about their own opinion on gender.

Studio Job, Joris & Marieke (NL) is a Dutch studio for animation, illustration, character design, and music. Their work can be described as cute, funny, poetic, and sometimes disturbing. The studio was founded in 2007 in Utrecht by Job Roggeveen, Joris Oprins and Marieke Blaauw. They work on commercials, educational projects, music videos, and short films. The music for all their work is composed by Happy Camper, an award-winning music project by Job. And obviously in their turn the studio creates all the music videos for Happy Camper. In 2015 their latest film (*Otto*) had its premiere at the TIFF festival in Canada. In 2015 their short film *A Single Life* was nominated for an Academy Award for best animated short. Their short film *MUTE* has won several international awards, including the Grand Prix and Audience award at the Holland Animation Film Festival. Their most known work is the music clip *I'll Take You Along* for rapper Gers Pardoel. With 20 million views it was the best viewed Dutch music video ever on Youtube.
