Meine Hülle
Deutsch

The installation Meine Hülle (My Shell) explores the adaptations and learned behaviors that young people adopt to integrate into our society. It presents the artist's reflection with the utmost transparency. Nylon stockings, with their transparency and elasticity, offer exciting possibilities as a material. They also evoke associations with the everyday, as well as with human skin and the process of shedding. The stockings have been cut up, deformed, and sewn together into abstract objects. In the exhibition version, they are suspended from a clothes rack and suspended in the space using hangers and thread. Magda further deepens her project with a performance in which she interacts directly with the stocking objects in the space. By putting these forms on and taking them off, she addresses the process of concealing and revealing. In her work, she sheds her outer shell and makes it visible to all.

At the heart of this work lies an exploration of the concept of the envelope as a symbol of societal attributions, constraints, and personal identity. It raises questions about self-perception, adaptation, and individual development without offering definitive answers, instead creating an open space for reflection.
The choice of material proves particularly significant: the use of transparent textiles makes aspects such as fragility, permeability, and limitation tangible both visually and conceptually. This ambivalence between protection and restriction is further intensified and emotionally conveyed in the performative realization. The work impresses with its sensitive, reflective approach and clear conceptual focus, and is therefore awarded a Young Professionals Honorary Mention.
