Save the World!
Deutsch

The interactive arcade game Save the World! was developed by Suren Leo on the Scratch platform. In the game, you control a character who must save the Earth from destruction. You have to dodge obstacles and collect plastic bottles. These act as power-ups and simultaneously represent environmental pollution. Over time, the game becomes increasingly difficult, requiring quick reflexes and good coordination.
The game combines classic arcade elements with the themes of environment and responsibility. The visual design helps players navigate the game and understand its mechanics. It demonstrates how block-based programming can be used for interactive, socially relevant content.

The open and humorous approach to challenges and failures is authentic, and the making-of feature clearly shows that the young programmer knows exactly what he's doing. The game itself impresses with its retro charm, intuitive controls, and well-balanced challenges. The jury was very impressed by the technical implementation, the gameplay concept, and the graphic design. The idea of collecting plastic bottles within the game, thus creating a connection to environmental protection, was also particularly well-received.
