My Mistake
Deutsch

Those who have the courage to fail and learn from it discover paths that would otherwise remain hidden. My Mistake is a 2D video game about failure, deliberately placing it at the center of the narrative. The game world initially appears empty: obstacles, platforms, and boundaries are invisible. Each attempt draws contours, gradually revealing the previously hidden level. Stumbling blocks are made visible through the players' own mistakes. Humorously animated phrases that run throughout the game world motivate players to continue. The game transforms mistakes from a negative experience into a positive one. Progress arises not despite failure, but through failure itself. In an age of performance pressure and the pursuit of perfection, Mia Hadjwasiri and Emilia Werner have created a playful counterpoint, inviting players to let go of their fear of failure.

My Mistake translates the principle of learning through failure into a minimalist yet multifaceted gaming experience. In a seemingly empty space, obstacles only become visible as the game progresses, allowing the journey to unfold as a process of trial and error. This design can also be interpreted as a metaphor for personal development. The clear visual language and deliberate reduction of complexity focus attention on the central concept: "Fail better." At the same time, the game impresses with its accessibility and playful appeal. The result is a work that is convincing both conceptually and in its execution.
