S+T+ARTS
STARTS is an initiative of the European Commission to foster alliances of technology and artistic practice. As part of this initiative, the STARTS residencies foster pioneering collaborations and the STARTS Prize honors the most inspired results in the field of creativity and innovation at the crossings of science and technology with the arts. STARTS is funded through various schemes provided by the European Commission.

ABSTRACT
The subjective action of aprehend the enviroment that surrounds us has changed forever. Nowadays nobody denies the presence of a digital reality with tecnolinguistic mechanisms that mediate in our “being there” in the world. Concepts like “place” or “waiting” stagger and emerge new formulas of relation with our enviroment.
In this context it is conceived the project presented here:
Four one-person booths lay over a land of alphabet pasta dominated by a dispenser which spit out pasta characters connected to external data flows. On the other hand, inside theese booths the violet ilumination vibrates at the rythm of the heart from who wears a pulse sensor. There, i expect that some subjects could dwell, leaving traces of them presences thanks to an autoluminescent marker. The result is a contingent space that collect an intersubjective dialogue of light pulses and pigment traces.
I conceive this propossal as an atmosphere in construction where the digital visualize forces that end up determining a place. The goal is to explore haptic landscapes and bring them face to face with the sense of space-time that our current societies have.
TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT
I propose to design and build four booths, each of them with a different type of light, and composed by: The ilumination that spatializes the digital track of each heart, the metal which amplifies the lighting signal, and the alphabet pasta which forms the symbolic landscape of the floor, a rocky substance, just altered by an autoluminiscent marker.
The booths are made of:
A rectangular cube of pine edges,
Four sheets covered by metal,
A metalic mat,
A heart pulse,
An electrical circuit,
Eight violet led profiles,
Two hundred and fifty packages of alphabet pasta,
And an autoluminiscent marker.
I propose as well an exterior space wich contains the booths and where the dispenser (to be developed) will spit out N packages of alphabet pasta, depending on the space where the project will be placed.
